Sunshine Houseboat Vacations has enjoyed operating a growing houseboat operation on the spectacular Lake Koocanusa for ten seasons. We are extremely excited about our  location and its positive ramifications for 2010 season. We have the ability, through the acquisition of 10 acres of upland and 6 acres of water area to provide a top notch all round marina service to all of our owners and clients. Each year has shown substantial growth in visitors and the number of boats that we operate.

We are making available 1only 2002 Sundrifter II 6015 model luxury houseboat (see above) to individuals or groups interested in a solid, long term investment that offers a good rate of return, tax benefits and incredible vacation experiences.  These models make up the Sundrifter 11 line up and feature three private staterooms, full bath and a half,  25 cu ft refrigerator, full size gas range, built in microwave, dishwasher, fireplace, entertainment center with CD/TV/DVD, hot tub, solid oak trim, wet bar, fuel transfer station and many other amenities.

The investment program for the Sundrifter II gives purchasers a price benefit due to Sunshine’s commercial purchase arrangement with the manufacturer.  The retail new price on these models is close to $295,000.  We are able to extend a special purchase price of $170,000 on one 2002 boats currently in our charter fleet. These boats are our best revenue producers.

Sunshine Houseboats has seen strong demand for our vacation product and we do not see this trend changing Sunshine’s management agreement makes the ownership of the houseboat hassle free for the investor.  Sunshine Houseboat Vacations is very motivated to make Lake Koocanusa the preferred destination for houseboating in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.  For our management fee of 55% of the gross charter revenue we will pay all regular maintenance, moorage, marketing, administration and other related costs of operating the houseboat.  The owner is responsible for insurance, lake permits, capital improvements and major maintenance.

This Sundrifter II’s can be financed up to a 75% level over a period of up to 15 years, on approval of credit.  Given the low purchase price offered with our charter program net revenue to the owner will traditionally cover all the costs of ownership.   The PST will not be due unless the owner decided to remove the boat from the charter fleet for personal use. GST is due on the purchase price but can be claimed back after the purchase is complete.

Houseboat ownership has been proven to be a very good long-term investment.  In conjunction with the strong cash returns, there are also tax benefits that may be available to owners of our houseboats  As the ownership of these houseboats is for investment charter income, the interest paid on the financing of the vessel is an eligible expense.  There is the potential to depreciate the vessel against your personal income for significant tax benefit by using the Capital Cost Allowance section under the Income Tax Act.

The return is based upon historical known charter revenues..  With our management agreement, Sunshine Houseboats will be giving investors an advance on charter revenue equivalent to 8.0% of their initial capital purchase of $170,000.  This equates to 6 equal payments of $2266 starting in June of 2007 and continuing each subsequent year on the same schedule.

We at Sunshine Houseboats understand the long-term value of investing in Charter Houseboats, but that is only part of the investment.  The reality is that houseboat ownership is fun for your family, friends and business associates.  There is pride in owning a top quality watercraft.  Personal usage of up 2 weeks per year with a nominal $250 turnaround fee allows for some well-deserved relaxation and Lake Koocanusa provides a superb location for your recreation.
